Cook Assistant
Prepare and cook a large volume of food to feed Soup Kitchen participants.
Maintain orderly kitchen
At least one year of experience in cooking.
Knowledge about food items, cooking large volumes of food, and maintaining an orderly kitchen, including cleaning, inventory, service, and clean-up for meals.
Good verbal and written communication skills.
A minimum of a year of successful work experience in a related field, experience in Food preparation/ service, and knowledge of proper food handling and safety.
The ability to work pleasantly and compassionately with all types of people.
Must be able to lift and carry up to 40 pounds.
The ability to perform multiples tasks and to facilitate efficient kitchen and services function
Server/Meal Packer
Create bagged meals for distribution to clients of this community kitchen.
You'll be on your feet the whole time and doing some medium to heavy lifting (20-30 lbs.).
Community Engagement
Handing out flyers to residents of the community.
Reaching out to nearby shelters to promote soup kitchens.
Help form partnerships with city agencies, local businesses, and community liaisons.
Dishwasher/Porter
Maintains a clean kitchen, and properly washes and sorts soiled dishes.
Keeps dish area free of clutter and organized.
Sets up dish stations, including dish machines and sinks.
Maintains clean/dry floors throughout the shift.
